Dear Member:
I want to pay-off the Mortgage. Will you help? Please send your contribution to the Bar Association to the attention of Tish. Let me give you some background information.
We bought the building on Third Avenue in 1988 for $450,000. We bought the Rose Drive building in 1992 for $215,000. The Board approved paying off the Mortgage starting in July, 2005. We have gone from a principal balance of $177,000 to the current amount of $41,000. With your help, we can have that Mortgage Burning Party!
Other than necessary repairs, we have not done any capital improvements to the buildings in many years. In August, 2007, the Board approved painting, flooring, and new furniture for the reception area and conference room in the Administration Building. What an improvement! If we collect more than is owed on the Mortgage, we plan to use the funds for further upgrades—for starters, painting the exterior of the buildings and xeriscaping in keeping with our “Go Green” campaign.
I envision our buildings as an architectural gem—the epicenter of the Bar Association. The property is a benefit of membership; the place we hold luncheons, seminars, committee and practice section meetings, mediations, guardianship and paralegal classes, receptions, and parties.
