My name is Reggie Janvier, and I am a sixth year associate at Akerman LLP in its Fort Lauderdale office. I am a commercial litigator, with experience handling matters such as breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, securities fraud claims brought under the Securities Act of 1933 and Exchange Act of 1934, and class actions.
I would like to join the YLS board to help create additional networking opportunities for young lawyers in Broward County. The post Covid environment has made it more challenging for young lawyers to engage in meaningful interactions with their colleagues on a consistent basis. I believe these interactions are essential to the personal development of young lawyers. By serving on the board I hope to use YLS to bridge this gap by creating a pathway for young lawyers to gain mentors and build relationships with peers, which will help propel their respective careers forward.
While I recognize that lawyers are very busy, and I am no exception, I have experience juggling a busy work schedule while also planning networking events. At Akerman, I assist in planning annual retreat for one of the firm’s affinity groups. Dating back to my time in law school, I was tasked with planning several networking events on behalf of the law review, including the end of the year banquet.
