The Young Lawyers Section (“YLS”) of the Broward County Bar Association strives to stimulate the interest of attorneys in the objectives of the Broward County Bar Association, and to promote professional and social understanding and cooperation among the Broward County legal community. The YLS contributes to the educational and professional advancement of attorneys, particularly those under age 36, while also contributing to the betterment of the Broward County community in general through charity functions and projects. The Young Lawyers Section has several annual events including Holiday in January, the Judicial Reception, Bowl-A-Thon, and our largest event, a Golf Tournament each Fall. The YLS also hold monthly luncheons that highlight prominent business people and leaders in the Broward County community, and monthly board meetings to ensure our agenda is on point with our objectives. Our luncheons and events are open to all, not just YLS members. Please take a look at our Calendar of Events for more information.
To be eligible for membership in The YLS, an attorney must be under the age of 36 or in their first 5 years of practice as a Florida Bar member. Is there a true Statute of Limitations in Workers’ Compensation cases anymore?That is the question answered in this episode of “Workplace Matters.”
Joined by Attorney Chad Bubis, who was the trial attorney on the case of Estes v. Palm Beach County School District that redefined the statute of limitations for Florida Workers Compensation cases under Florida Statute 440.19(2), Florida Statutes.
Diana Castrillon and Henry Roman review how the last two years have been a whirlwind for workers’ compensation practitioners with several cases coming down from the First District Court of Appeals interpreting and reinterpreting the Statute of Limitations.
The Estes case is now the “law of the land” as it related to Workers’ Compensation cases and this podcast aims to summarize the current law in about 20 minutes.

Our South Florida community shares deep ties with Venezuela, and we stand in solidarity with the families who have lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods during this tragic time.
