The Young Lawyers Section (“YLS”) of the Broward County Bar Association strives to stimulate the interest of attorneys in the objectives of the Broward County Bar Association, and to promote professional and social understanding and cooperation among the Broward County legal community. The YLS contributes to the educational and professional advancement of attorneys, particularly those under age 36, while also contributing to the betterment of the Broward County community in general through charity functions and projects. The Young Lawyers Section has several annual events including Holiday in January, the Judicial Reception, Bowl-A-Thon, and our largest event, a Golf Tournament each Fall. The YLS also hold monthly luncheons that highlight prominent business people and leaders in the Broward County community, and monthly board meetings to ensure our agenda is on point with our objectives. Our luncheons and events are open to all, not just YLS members. Please take a look at our Calendar of Events for more information.
To be eligible for membership in The YLS, an attorney must be under the age of 36 or in their first 5 years of practice as a Florida Bar member. In 2023, Ms. Hoffman was inducted into the Broward County Bar Association Workers’ Compensation section Hall of Fame as she was the founder of Attorneys Jo Ann Hoffman & Associates, P.A. in Fort Lauderdale and dedicated her life to fighting for the injured, the vulnerable, and those whose voices often went unheard. Her unwavering compassion, sharp legal mind, and tireless dedication transformed countless lives and set a standard of excellence in the fields of personal injury and Workers’ Compensation law. Beyond her legal accomplishments, Jo Ann was a beacon of strength, kindness, and integrity. Thank you to everyone who joined us for our centennial Gala at the Ritz-Carlton, celebrating 100 years of service, leadership and community.
We kicked off the evening with a vibrant cocktail hour where members, colleagues and friends gathered to raise a glass to our history.
During the Installation ceremony, we proudly honored this year’s award recipients, recognized our outgoing leadership, and officially installed our new Board of Directors including our newly installed president, Aron J. Gibson!
…But the night didn’t end there, our after party brought the energy with whiskey tastings, cigar and coffee bars and lively dancing featuring dazzling performers.
